Welcome to Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break, a competitive tower defense and arcade action game rolled up in ACE Team’s quirky, Monty Python-esque humor into one giant, creative game for the ages!
Whether this is your introduction to the series or its triumphant return, Rock of Ages 3 is the biggest and bouldest entry yet, and I’m here to walk you through everything you can make and break today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Coming to Stadia and Stadia Pro August 14.
What is Rock of Ages?
Rock of Ages is a blend of tower defense strategy, arcade action, and competitive racing wrapped up in one giant destructive bundle. Players control a multitude of different boulders as they storm the opponent’s stronghold, while simultaneously placing a variety of defenses, traps, and structures to defend your own castle from siege.
When you’re done busting down castle doors, there are five more skill–based game modes for you to challenge progressively more difficult computer-controlled opponents or other players in online and local multiplayer.
The MAKE Mode
In a series first, ACE Team is giving players the tools they need to create their own wacky courses, share online, and play them with others. This easy-to-use level editor supports all the different game modes and boulders, and you can download and play the variety of courses made by the community.
The BREAK Mode
When you are done making your levels it’s time to break everyone else’s! Rock of Ages 3 features the longest campaign in the series to date, chock full of ACE Team’s quirky, Monty Python–esque humor. The story will take players through Elpenor’s journey, the lesser–known companion of Odysseus as he wanders through time with the titular “Rock of Ages”, a sentient boulder who will battle famous and infamous figures throughout history in frantic boss battles across 60+ levels.
Throughout this adventure, the six available modes of Rock of Ages are introduced.
War – The original Rock of Ages mode, players will alternate between building defenses and rolling a boulder down an obstacle course to hit your opponent’s gate. It will take speed, clever thinking, and precision rolling to besiege their castle before yours!
Obstacle – Race to score points on a course populated with defenses that increase in number and power each round. First to the finish line wins!
Avalanche – A traditional tower defense mode where you must defend your castle from waves of enemy boulders that increase in number and destructive power. Mine for gold and use your limited resources to protect the gates at all costs.
Time Trial – It’s a race against the clock and the fuse. Navigate an obstacle course as a bomb–shaped boulder and reach the end before it explodes. Slow and steady won’t win this race!
Humpty Dumpty – Guide the fragile egg through a course of trampolines, traps, and enemies to bring Humpty safely home. Careful, not even all the king’s horses and all the king’s men can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
Skeeball – Collect as many points as possible by building score multipliers by rolling through a course into rings at the end of each track.
